Jimmy Bridges, LMFT, CFLE

Jimmy is a doctoral student in the Couple and Family Therapy program at Kansas State University. He holds a Master of Science degree in Couple and Family Therapy from Kansas State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Marriage and Family Studies from Brigham Young University-Idaho. He is currently a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Kansas and a certified family life educator.

Jimmy believes that balancing the two needs to connect and be a unique individual are central to a satisfying life. Some of us carry a lot of baggage from our upbringing. Some of us have been hurt by previous relationships. And sometimes we hold onto negative beliefs or stories that society has convinced us are true. Jimmy takes a compassionate and patient approach, guiding clients through a better understanding of who they are. He believes that many of our issues have power over us simply because we keep them hidden, often not knowing how to put words to why we hurt as much as we do. Jimmy’s goal is to help clients put words to these challenges—empowering clients with the ability to cope and overcome.

Jimmy has worked with a variety of clients from diverse backgrounds, and specializes in couple’s counseling. He works with individuals, couples, and families experiencing faith crisis and transition. Jimmy’s own faith journey began early in high school when he converted to Buddhism and then joined the LDS church when he was 19. After his own faith transition he has come to embrace that regardless of race, gender, class, culture, religious belief, gender expression, or sexual orientation, everyone should have access to the resources that bring meaning and joy in life.
