About Sex Therapy

Symmetry Counseling understands that sexual concerns can have a significant impact on an individual’s overall well-being and mental health. We provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals who are experiencing issues related to out-of-control sexual behavior, sexual shame, sexuality, and sexual trauma.

Out-of-control sexual behavior, also known as compulsive sexual behavior or hypersexuality, refers to a pattern of engaging in sexual activities that are excessive, uncontrollable, and often interfere with daily life functioning. This can lead to feelings of guilt, shame, and a loss of control. Our therapists are trained to help individuals understand and manage their sexual behaviors, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and regain a sense of control over their lives.

Sexual shame is a common experience that can arise from societal, cultural, or religious beliefs surrounding sexuality. It can lead to feelings of guilt, embarrassment, and a negative self-image. Our therapists provide a non-judgmental and compassionate space for individuals to explore and address their feelings of sexual shame. We work collaboratively with clients to challenge and reframe negative beliefs, promote self-acceptance, and foster a healthier relationship with their sexuality.

Sexuality is a fundamental aspect of human identity, and it encompasses a wide range of experiences, orientations, and expressions. Our mental health professionals are knowledgeable about various aspects of human sexuality and provide a safe space for individuals to explore and understand their own sexual identity. We offer support and guidance in navigating issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and sexual expression.

Sexual trauma refers to any unwanted or non-consensual sexual experience that can have long-lasting effects on an individual’s mental health. Our therapists are trained in trauma-informed care and provide specialized support for individuals who have experienced sexual trauma. We work collaboratively with clients to address the emotional and psychological impact of the trauma, develop coping strategies, and promote healing and recovery.

At Symmetry Counseling, we believe in the importance of addressing and supporting individuals with sexual concerns. We strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where clients can explore their sexual experiences, heal from past traumas, and develop a healthy and empowered relationship with their sexuality.

Sex therapy is a form of therapy that focuses on addressing and resolving sexual issues, improving sexual function, and enhancing sexual satisfaction. Several of our dedicated therapists are AASECT trained in the field of sex therapy and provide a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals and couples to explore and address their sexual concerns.

“Remember that there are lots of ways to have successful ‘sex’ that don’t have to include erections, penetration, or even orgasm.”
